FAQ
Common questions about group therapy
Are groups confidential?
Group members are expected to respect the confidentiality of the group. Group members are not to share information that could identify any of the group members. Our group therapists cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality, because they cannot control the behavior of group members. We have found that group members are typically very respectful of each other’s privacy and confidentiality rights.
What will be expected of group members?
Each group sets guidelines at the beginning of the group therapy process. In general, group members have the following expectations:
Attending each scheduled group is beneficial to build a strong group experience and trust among group members.
If you must miss a session, let the group know as far in advance as possible.
Share as openly as you can with the group members
Be respectful of others
Share the talk time with others
Can I still have individual therapy if I join a group?
Of course! It is very common for people to engage in both as they offer different types of therapy support and personal growth.
